The hills will be alive to the sound of stunning mountain music on Saturday 13th October as the summit of Cairn Gorm hosts a unique combination of contemporary indie singer songwriter Rachel Sermanni and multi-award winning Inverness Gaelic Choir. The event is the launch of Rachel Sermanni’s much-anticipated new album titled ‘Under Mountains’ which reflects how important the landscape and emotional power of the Cairngorms has been in inspiring her music and songwriting.
To complement Rachel’s acclaimed new songs, Inverness Gaelic choir will include a work by Duncan Bàn Macintyre, the celebrated 18th century poet, composer, soldier, gamekeeper and environmentalist whose works are regarded as among the greatest pieces of nature poetry written about Scotland’s mountain landscape.
The environment of Cairngorm and Strathspey helped inspire and develop Rachel’s love for of music and songwriting. In this she joins a great highland tradition of poets, songwriters and composers who have been inspired to create work by the emotions they feel for our mountain landscape.
Rachel’s debut album has already garnered rave reviews and has been described as “as close to a perfect folk record you’re likely to hear this year”.
